Subject: Status of Dual Citizenship Applications for US Descendants

Dear Members and Supporters,

I hope this message finds you well. As the President of Roots in Guinea Bissau Cultural and Development Initiative, I am writing to provide you with an important update on the status of the citizenship applications for US descendants desiring dual citizenship in Guinea Bissau.

We are pleased to inform you that the government of Guinea Bissau has approved the initial 23 applications for dual citizenship. This is an encouraging development and a significant step towards fulfilling our objective of reconnecting our members with their ancestral homeland.

However, it is important to note that we are presently awaiting final approval from the newly installed administration in Guinea-Bissau. Unfortunately, we do not have a specific date for when this final approval will occur. We understand that this uncertainty may cause some frustration, but we assure you that we are actively engaging with the government to expedite the process.

In light of the ongoing review process and to ensure efficient handling of the existing applications, Roots in Guinea Bissau Cultural and Development Initiative will not be accepting any new applications for dual citizenship until the first batch of applications receives final approval. We believe that focusing our efforts on the current applications will enhance our chances of success and allow us to establish a solid foundation for future endeavors.

Transparency and efficiency are of utmost importance to us, and we are committed to working closely with the government of Guinea Bissau to create a streamlined and transparent process for dual citizenship applications. We believe that a well-structured framework will benefit all parties involved and foster stronger connections between the US and Guinea Bissau.

To keep you informed and engaged, we will be providing monthly updates on the status of the dual citizenship applications during our Zoom calls. These calls will serve as an opportunity for you to receive the latest information, ask questions, and share your feedback. We highly encourage all those who are interested in the dual citizenship process to attend these monthly Zoom calls and actively participate in the discussions.

As we navigate through this process, we appreciate your continued support, understanding, and patience. The Roots in Guinea Bissau Cultural and Development Initiative team remains dedicated to facilitating cultural exchange, promoting development, and strengthening the bonds between the US and Guinea Bissau.

Thank you for your attention, and we look forward to your active participation in the upcoming Zoom calls.

Sincerely,

Kevin-Midana Collins
